We're Having a Ball!

We have been having a ball in gym.  In addition to students leading the warm-ups and cool downs, and participating in the "beep test", we have been gaining skills in throwing and catching.

Yesterday we began working on refining our expertise when using the latest reading strategy:  visualizing.  As a warm-up activity, I read a text to the students describing the spotted handfish and they were asked to draw what they visualized based on the text.  Shown here is the sketches that they came up with and the actual photo is in the bottom right of the photo.  For more information, watch the video below.  Students are encouraged to practise this reading strategy at home during their nightly reading. A new anchor chart has already been posted in the Literacy Anchor Chart Archives page of our site in the reading strategy area.
