Blog Math, Literacy, and Rosary

Congratulations to everyone who correctly answered last week's proportional reasoning question.  This was a two-step question, that could be done in different ways, but the correct answer was that twelve videos cost $36.  Please check the feedback on your work to make sure that you learn from mistakes, misconceptions, and/or omissions.  This work is to be stored in your number sense and numeration duo tang that is currently in your desk.

Here is the latest question. It is due on Tuesday October 18 at 8:10 AM.  Copy the question on lined binder paper, solve it, and place it in the IN BOX upon completion.

If three football players have a combined mass of 345 kg, what is the mass of eleven players?  Justify your answer using the steps of problem solving.

 Yesterday Mrs. D'Agnillo visited us for our inaugural rosary session of the 2016-2017 school year.  Please remind your child to follow along using the rosary they are provided with so that they know which prayer we are saying and when to say it.  Thank you.

Tomorrow we will be having our first literacy evaluation.  Each student will be asked to read a text and answer questions based on the work we have been doing in this unit:  characteristics of a narrative, characteristics of a suspense narrative(gr 6)/personal narrative(gr 7), nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, vocabulary, author's purpose, and extending our understanding by making connections.  I recommend that students review the anchor charts on our website and graphic organizers that are in their duo tangs.  We have been working in literacy centres for the last week to allow the students time to practise their skills while I did guided reading with groups of students.
