Budding Authors

Our latest writing venture is a narrative.  Each students is in the process of planning a fiction narrative, genre of their choice (fantasy, suspense, mystery, adventure, science fiction, etc.).  Their graphic organizers are nearly complete.  After a conference with me, and more modelled writing of an effective opening, they will begin to write their longer, more complex piece of writing.  It will be a minimum of three paragraphs and must contain all of the characteristics of a narrative.  I must say that I am pleasantly surprised that they are very excited about this.  This is a great way for us to put all of the elements of writing together that we have been working on all year (organization, author's voice, word choice, writing dialogue, sentence and paragraph structure, use of literary devices, etc.) as well as continue to work on the writing process (which included revising and editing).  I look forward to their finished products.  Ask your child about their work and see what they have decided to work on!
