Math and Pancakes!

Thought of the day:  If people who drink alcohol can become an alcoholic, then why don't I become fantastic when I drink Fanta? (thanks Joseph, for this great line!)

We have been doing plenty of hands-on small group and partner work as we work through understanding how to calculate the surface area of right prisms.  The grade 6s are working on rectangular prisms and triangular prisms, while the grade 7s add rhomboid prisms and trapezoidal prisms to the mix.  These photos represent tasks that were done on different days with different expectations.  Check it out!

Here is the finished products after the students were asked to work in partners or groups of three to create all the possible TYPES of triangular prisms that are possible.
