Blog Math and Test

Image result for radio stationCongratulations to those students who handed in their question on time AND with accuracy.  The correct answer was 6540 calls in one hour.  Unfortunately, some students are still not following the steps of problem solving fully.  Don't forget to check!  Also, for this question, you needed to divide 3815 calls by 35 minutes to find out that 109 calls were made each minute.  That means that the minute is the group and each group has 109 items in it.  Therefore, when you craft the multiplication sentence it must read 60 x 109 NOT 109 x 60.  The correct sentence means 60 groups (minutes) of 109 (calls).  The other way around does not make sense.  I continue to provide this feedback on the students' work but many seem to ignore it.  Please review this with your child and apply this thinking to this week's question.  Thank you!

Here is the next question that is due on Tuesday November 15.

Our next math test is scheduled for Friday for both grades.  The grade sixes will be evaluated on adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing, as well as prime and composite numbers, order of operations ( BEDMAS) from unit 2 and Transformational Geometry from unit 7.  The grade sevens will be evaluated on all of our integer work as well as the Transformational Geometry work.  Both grades have many handouts in their duo tangs and should be making corrections so that any misconceptions can be cleared up well in advance of Friday.
