This Information is Classified!

Today we continued our science inquiry by working to answer the question:  How can we classify the organisms that you found living in the zoo illustration in our textbook?  The students again worked in pairs, then in larger groups to collaboratively answer the question.  Although not all of the answers are scientifically correct, I am pleased to report that the students seem to have a good understanding  of classifying into groups and subgroups.  Check it out!

 Here are the finished products:

A huge thank you goes out to all students and their families who have returned their Student Registration Verification form.  I have them all now!  An important Learning Skill that I am teaching the students is time management.  It is important to work on tasks as soon as they have been given, rather than waiting until the last minute.  This will be very important as we move forward.  The students will have weekly assignments that will be due each Friday and I DO NOT recommend waiting until Thursday or Friday to complete them.  I have been reinforcing this in the classroom through discussions.  In addition, it is difficult to predict the future - you never know when an illness or other unplanned interruption will occur.  My philosophy:  Do not put off until tomorrow what you can do today!
