All week our class has been working diligently to promote our North of 60 Project. Daily announcements have been written and read over the P.A., students have been going around to the classrooms to collect the oats and monetary donations, and posters have been hung. If you can, pick up some oats this weekend while grocery shopping. Thank you for your support.
In literacy lately, we have been working on discerning the main idea from a text and summarizing it as well. New anchor charts have been posted on the archive page of our site. We have been using texts that were used on previous grade 6 EQAO assessments so that the grade 6s get used to seeing what they look like, and so that the level is accessible to all. In addition, all newspaper articles written by the students have been published and evaluated. Now we are working on creating a digital version called "The Guardian Gazette".
Please remind your child to review the numerous PDFs that have been uploaded to the Numeracy Anchor Chart Archive page. There seems to be quite a gap between the knowledge demonstrated in our class and where that level should be.
