Literature Circles!

On Monday we began a reading activity called Literature Circles.  The students in our class were able to choose from eight titles selected by me after I gave a brief synopsis and they had the opportunity to examine them.  After selecting, they got into their groups and decided how much they had to read for the next four weeks, and which role they will complete while doing their reading.  Every Friday, beginning this Friday, each group will meet and hold a meeting - discussing the reading done that week.  This will continue for four weeks.  At the end they will work together to complete a group book talk.  They will earn multiple marks for this task.  All of the reading and associated tasks must be completed at school, since it will be for evaluation.  The books that were decided on are:  Shiloh; Freedom Train; The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe; Jacob's Rescue; and Holes.  Ask your child which book they selected.  Happy reading!
