Decimals...for a Fraction of the Time!

Last week we embarked on our fraction and decimal journey.  We have used base 10 blocks and thousandths grids to help us understand what it all means.  We have learned to represent these numbers in a variety of ways, including standard form, expanded form, words, and with manipulatives.  We have also learned how to compare and order decimals.  Shown here are pictures of our ordering game.

The CASI results are in!  Although all parents will have the opportunity to view both of the CASI reading assessments that your child has completed during their student-led conference next week, I would like to publicly recognize some admirable achievement here.  Congratulations to the following students whose reading scores increased ONE ENTIRE LEVEL from September to January:  Angelina, Evan, Carlo, Steven M., Nick, Chantel, Ophelia, and Alyssa.  Extra special recognition must be extended to NATE because his score increased two full levels!  Both of those achievements are not easy to do!  Keep up the good work!
