This week we began working on a gym project. The students were allowed to choose their own groups, and the task that they have to accomplish is creating their own cooperative game that they will present and teach to the rest of the class. The class will play the game and critique it. A written proposal has to be submitted to me for approval, the teams will have the opportunity to practise their game and rehearse their presentation before the final day approaches. Pictured below you will see the success criteria that I have based the rubric on. Also, please enjoy our inaugural photos.
After reviewing the students' independent practice work involving the attributes of figures on Wednesday, I must say that for the most part I am very disappointed with the quality of the work. Many students are having difficulty recognizing quadrilaterals, various angles, congruent sides, and parallel sides. Again their homework is to MEMORIZE the information on the geometry resource pages found on the Numeracy Anchor Chart Library page of this site. They will find all geometry work very difficult this year without this important knowledge. They also must correct all errors.
