Good News

 It's off to the post office I go!

 Our idea has been submitted!  As I blogged about last week, our class has decided to nominate Laura Secord as a deserving Canadian heroine whose image should appear on our new Canadian currency in 2018.  This was an informed decision, as some students researched women and their achievements, I presented their information to the class, and we held a vote.  The results were overwhelmingly in favour of Laura!

Down the hatch!

We worked collaboratively to write the persuasive letter using the anchor chart we had created based on a sample letter that I used to teach the class about this text form.  We used two different occasions to revise and edit our work in order to ensure it accurately conveyed our message.  Finally we all signed it with our new knowledge of doing our signatures in cursive.  I addressed the envelope and placed it in the mailbox on Thursday after school.  The deadline for submissions is April 15, but I do not know when the selection will be announced.  Keep your fingers crossed!  Maybe our letter will be convincing enough to produce some results!  In any event, great job class!
