Problem Solving Surface Area

Last week we worked diligently to develop the formula needed to calculate the surface area of rectangular prisms, recognize the various types of rectangular prisms and their specific attributes, and have worked to perfect this skill.  As you might expect, we must take it much further than that and use this knowledge in real-life situations using the steps of the problem solving model that we have been using all year.  Check out the photos of the students working in groups on multi-step problems.  These will be the type of questions they can expect to see on the EQAO assessment later this year.  Ask them about it.
