Getting a Charge out of Electricity

We began our study of electricity this week.  We have learned about Galvani, the scientist that discovered electricity, and Volta, the scientist that was the first to make electricity.  We have begun to experiment with creating batteries using food items, as well as testing for conductivity.  Some of the results are "shocking".
lemon
orange
banana
bread

voltmeter
using a 6V battery

conductor -metal spoon
insulator- wood
 Some new vocabulary that we have learned is:  alligator clip, LED (light emitting diode), conductor, insulator, voltmeter.  Ask your child about it.  We will continue our tests next week.
