Today we experimented with strategies to measure the surface area of rectangular prisms. Students were put into groups and given a cardboard box. The assignment was to estimate then calculate the actual surface area of the box. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to make your thinking visible and to record all of the steps and required information.
