Last week I read this mentor text to our class as a way of modelling thinking while reading, great oral reading with expression, to review the characteristics of a narrative, and to get their creative juices flowing. From there each student was asked to write a paragraph for me about their summer vacation. This was a diagnostic activity.
We also have been spending time daily doing independent reading. Check out our fantastic "level 4" readers. We have also begun our first Health unit.
