Are You Ready?

Greetings to all of my loyal blog followers and students/parents that are perusing teachers' websites as we all gear up for BACK TO SCHOOL!

Image result for back to schoolIn just a few short weeks, yes two weeks from today, we will be filling the halls and playgrounds of St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School.  The purpose of this post it to give you some tips that will help ease the transition between the many weeks of summer vacation and our school schedule.

Image result for dress codeTip #2:  Check your shorts and t-shirts to ensure that they match the dress code expected at school.  Check your fall clothes and make sure they still fit. The cool weather will be here before you know it and I'm sure you have grown since the last time you wore them.  Don't forget inside running shoes!

Image result for backpack and lunch boxTip #3:  Find and clean your backpack or acquire a new one.  Find and clean your lunch bag too.

Image result for school suppliesTip #4:  Make sure you have all of the school supplies required.  If you lost the list that was in your report card envelope in June, check out the school supply page of my website for suggestions (just click on the link above that says "Mrs. Colautti's Website").

Image result for readingTip #5:  If you haven't been reading all summer, get into the routine.  Read at least 30 minutes per day.  If you don't think it is necessary, check the page of my website called "Why Should Students Read Nightly?".

Image result for math factsTip #6:  Review your basic math facts.  That includes adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.  It is important to know these well, without using your fingers.  While lightning speed isn't required, consistent accuracy is.  That will make your life in math much easier this year!

Another Fort McMurray Fundraiser!

After hearing about our work, the Fogolar Furlan Club here in Windsor decided they also wanted to support the community of Fort McMurray in their quest to return "to normal".  In addition to the devastating wildfires, there has been recent flooding in parts of the city that was untouched by the fires due to the severe storms they have experienced this summer.  As it turns out, the families of Miss Tanya Quaglia and Mr. John Ottogalli are members of the club.  If you can, try to attend this Thursday.  Tickets are sold at the Fogolar, Imperial Gifts and Decor (on Tecumseh Road in the Giant Tiger Plaza), and through Tanya's mom Angela.  I hope to see you there!

P.S. Our fund raising events were published in the Snap'd paper in the July and August editions.  In the event that you did not see them, I have added the links below.
